The photographers and digital artists Duplo & Phil started a dual-core cooperation in 2013 at the "Westpaket in Leipzig/Plagwitz" with photography/wood prints on chipboard, which have been mainly developed into the printing art project "Duplo&Phil" since then. Sketches are made on different kinds of small wood pieces to test verifying wood shapes and colors within the motifs. At the end the pictures are printed in limited editions in different sizes. Each piece is unique and signed. By now not only wood is used but also different structures like marble, glas, plastic etc. Not only photographs are printed but also graphics, paintings, graffiti, assembled photography collages or whatever is in their mind...
Meanwhile, we accept orders and cooperations, just let us know if you have an idea.
The technic used is a solvent based transfer print. Fade colors of a laser LED printer are transferred from paper to the media to be printed (wood, stone etc.). The media in combination with the solvent draws the colors to the printing ground creating a handmade and unique print which is not comparable to any industrial wood print yet. It gives the feeling of a painted or colored art piece and the colors fade in with the media and don't seem to be printed on.
